A good contact lens wearing candidate should be generally free of severe dry eyes, so that comfort for contact lens wear can be maximized.
Medical history of any refractive eye surgery
Refractive eye procedures such as LASIK, modifies the natural curvature of the corneal layers (the most anterior transparent tissues of the eye). This alters the characteristics of how a contact lens sits on the eye and thus the comfort of the wearer.
When a contact lens does not sit well on the eye, the visual quality will also be affected too! In such a case where contact lens wear is desired, a rigid gad permeable lens (hard contact lens) may be the preferred option for improving vision.
Amount of myopia and astigmatism
People with moderate to high degree of astigmatism (0.50 to 3.50 degrees) requires correction with astigmatic contact lens instead of normal ones.
